Henry Harold "Dutch" Golden

Henry Harold “Dutch” Golden, and to many known as the “railroader”, age 96 of Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon and formerly of the Brooks Hill Community, died on Thursday, November 12, 2009. He was born September 18, 1913, at Helvetia, a son of the late Curtis Lloyd and Eva R. Tallman Golden. He was united in marriage on February 11, 1937 to Nettie Maude Johnston Golden, who preceded him in death on October 20, 2006. He is survived by six daughters; Rachel and husband Warren Smith of Buckhannon, Ellen and husband Lonnie Shingleton of Buckhannon, Opal and husband Dwayne Corbitt of Cleveland, OH, Twila Morris of Buckhannon, Joann and husband Louis Audia of Morgantown, Ronda and husband David Hinkle of French Creek; eighteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, eleven step grandchildren; six sisters; Mrs. Beryl Hubbard of Dayton, OH, Mrs. Zella Crawford of Bridgeville, PA., Mrs. Edith Hosaflook of Buckhannon, Mrs. Dolly Coleman of Buckhannon, Mrs. William “Nicki” Lloyd of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Mrs. Ruth Bunner Scott of Jacksonville, NC. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Virginia) Booth and Hazel Joyce Golden, one infant son, Stanley Harold Golden, two sisters, Mrs. Ross “Stella” Wilson and Mrs. Willa Cole; four brothers; Gerald, Willard, Dempsey and Curtis Golden. Mr. Golden was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great and great great grandfather. From a young man he had a strong faith in God. He was a former superintendent of the Brooks Hill UM Church for many years. He worked on the Beech Mountain Railroad for thirty-seven years and also enjoyed working on his farm. He was a former board member of the Brooks Hill Community Building. He was an honorary member of the Selbyville VFD. He will be greatly missed. Friends will be received at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Saturday, November 14, 2009, from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2009, at 11:00 AM, at the Brooks Hill Memorial Church, with the Rev. Robert Heavner officiating. Interment will follow in the Brooks Hill Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mr. Golden to the Serenity Care Home at Rt 6, Box 750, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
