Millie Irene Wilson Chidester

Millie Irene Wilson Chidester, 87, of Abbott and most recently a resident of St. Joseph’s Hospital LTC Unit went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 18, 2011, after a long illness. Millie was born July 10, 1923, in Cleveland, WV, the daughter of the late Arthur Clarence and Lula Grace Berry Wilson. On January 5, 1946, she married Charles Daris Chidester who preceded her in death on August 14, 1988. Surviving are ten children. Six sons: Carl Ralph Miller and wife, Betty of Buckhannon; Charles “Sonny” Chidester and wife, Brenda of Rock Cave; Randy, Nelson, and Mark Chidester of Abbott; and Richard Chidester and wife Tammy of Abbott. Four daughters: Phyllis Irene Conrad and husband, Wilbert of Roanoke, WV; Rita Rice and husband, Tom of the Frenchton Road; Cheryl “Sherry” Gaunt and husband, Gary of Abbott; and Karen Miller and husband, Steve of Abbott. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Eileen Chidester. Also surviving are grandchildren: Greg Miller and wife, Barbara of Tallmansville; Angela Williams of Brushy Fork Road; Lori Stell and husband, Bobby of Buckhannon; Charles Conrad and wife, Tina; Kenny Conrad; Steve Conrad and wife, Brenda all of Roanoke, WV; Patricia “Teresa” Stump and husband, David of Gassaway, WV; Ashley and husband, Jake of Roanoke, WV; Randy Conrad of Roanoke; Timothy Rice and wife, Mischa of Buckhannon; Melissa Riley and husband, Bill of French Creek; Christy Gaunt of San Diego, CA; Kimberly Gaunt of Abbott; Tracy Harris of Weston, WV; Amanda Ball and husband, Mike of Tallmansville Road; Jamie Weaver of Waterloo; Brandon Chidester of Frenchton Road; Lindsey Messenger of Alton; Doug Miller and wife, Jennifer of Buckhannon; Charles “Bob” Miller and wife, Mona of Las Vegas, NV; Rachel, Courtney, and Alex Chidester of Abbott, WV. She was preceded in death by grandson, Randall Douglas Chidester. She is survived by 25 great-grandchildren and was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter. Also surviving are three sisters: Doris Lough of Lick Run; Hildred Sisk of Rock Cave; and Dora Neely of Wilson Town; and one brother, Arthur Carol Wilson of Selbyville, WV. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Hobert, Monter, Carl, and Vern Wilson and one sister, Esta Cremeans. Millie was a member of the Rock Cave Baptist Church and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary Chapter 36 DAV of French Creek. She was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. She always had a smile to give you. She is now “Strolling Over Heaven” with her loved ones who have gone on before. We look forward to the day when we will be together again. Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, from 4-8 PM at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at 11:00 AM at the Rock Cave Baptist Church with Pastor David Jessie and the Rev. Robert F. Heavner officiating. Interment will follow in the Canaan Cemetery.
