Myra Maxine 'Mac' Woods Loudin

Myra Maxine “Mac” Woods Loudin, 82, of Phillips Dairy Road, Buckhannon, passed away Friday, June 19, 2009 at Holbrook on the Hill in Buckhannon. She was born June 14, 1927, a daughter of the late Samuel “Tinker” and Nerlie Dever Woods. She was the author of The Samuel H. Woods Family. She was working on an updated version of her family genealogy. She was a 43-year member of The Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 3663 as well as a 28-year member to Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, French Creek #36. Holly River State Park was her favorite camping destination where she spent days or weeks each summer with her children and grandchildren. As an avid seamstress, she made clothing, afghans, kitchen towels, and table covers and runners for her family and friends. Her husband John Oren Loudin and two infant sons, John and Samuel Loudin, preceded her in death. Five brothers, Minor, Martermur, Morton, Matthew “Max,” and Minter Woods and four sisters, Mona West, Marvel Howes, Mintie “Boots” Browning, and Martha “Peggy” Styles also preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons Sheldon Loudin, Charles “Chuck” and wife Rose Ellen Loudin of Buckhannon, and Timothy Loudin of Alexandria, VA; and two daughters, Crystal and husband Larry Jones and Brenda and husband Matthew Friend, both of Buckhannon. Also surviving her are grandchildren, Brandy (Tenney) and husband Theron Caynor, John and Evan Loudin, Samuel and Austin Jones, and Nathaniel Friend, all of Buckhannon; Kayla (Tenney) and husband Brent Bouscher of Elkins; Jonathan Loudin and Traci Loudin of North Carolina; Adam and wife Katie Loudin of Indiana; Sierra Loudin of Florida; and step-grandchild Katherina DeForrest of Indiana. Great-grandchildren are Olivia and Owen Caynor of Buckhannon; Broderick and Madelynne Bouscher of Elkins, and step-great-grandchild Indigo DeForrest of Indiana survive her as well. Also surviving her is one sister Mazie “Jean” Ervin of French Creek. Friends and family will be received at Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Robert Heavner officiating. The burial will follow at Laurel Fork United Methodist Church Cemetery.
