Roberta Beulah Koblank

Roberta Beulah Koblank, 96 years old, of Dinah’s Boutique in French Creek, WV passed from this life to the next on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 after having had a stroke on May 2, and another on July 3. She had a long and happy life thanks to her close relationship with her heavenly father, a great attitude, a grateful, generous, and joyful heart. Born November 27, 1914 in Conway, South Carolina; graduated from Winthrop College in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She taught elementary school in Conway, South Carolina; Fort Walton Beach, Florida then for 25 years in Miami, Florida, retiring in 1975. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lucian Clyde Hucks in 1950, and her second husband, Albert Bernard Koblank, in 1980. Father, Noah Scarborough Hardwick, mother Clarkie Bessant Booth Hardwick, brothers Odell, Olen, and Oscar Hardwick, sister Myrtie Hardwick Neal Sechler, infant brother Ralph Hardwick also preceded her. She is survived by brother Herbert Hardwick of North Charleston, South Carolina, daughter Dinah Lou Hucks Thomas Campi, sons Larry Hucks and Kenny Koblank of French Creek, daughter Karen Bennett Floyd of Buckhannon, grandchildren Donna Thomas Odend’hal Overkamp, David Thomas, Jason Bennett, Shane Koblank, Dylan Koblank, Ashley Koblank, Amy Floyd, Aaron Floyd. Five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was tremendously gifted as a remedial reading teacher. Her dedication to teaching reading was based on her belief that each child needed a good reading foundation to be able to be successful in later life. Many yards in Upshur County have an extra splash of color because she shared her love of plants with just about everybody she met by sharing from her greenhouse. Recently, on the way to the hospital, the ambulance attendant asked her which hospital she wanted to go to, and she said, Heaven. I am sure that she is there now with our heavenly father. Homegoing service will be at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 1:00 PM - Visitation from Noon-1:00PM with interment to follow at Center Chapel Cemetery.
